Clinical Supervision for LPC & LMFT Residents in Virginia
Supervision that Helps you create your clinical compass
Residency is a tender, demanding season. You're building hours, learning the rules, and holding a hundred quiet questions about whether you're truly “helping” the people in front of you.
You deserve supervision that holds all of it. I offer a grounded, human hour. Compassionate and direct, where we sit together in the hard gray areas and you still leave with something concrete for your next session. My aim is to help you build your own clinical compass, rooted in who you are as a person not just as a therapist.

Residency is about more than forming a professional identity, it's happening alongside your identity as a person, and the two are always in conversation. We'll pay attention to both: where your clinical self and your whole self integrate, and where they need to stay separate. That self-knowledge is one of your best protections against burnout. Knowing who you are, and how to hold both roles, is what lets you do this work for the long haul.

This is the hour for the countertransference you don't understand yet, the ethical dilemma keeping you up, the client you can't stop thinking about. We won't rush past the messy middle, we'll stay in it together until it's workable.
-
Depth and practicality aren't opposites. We'll grapple with the big questions and make sure you leave each session with something you can actually use, a next step, a framing, a plan for the session you're dreading.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Supervision is on a sliding scale of $85–$150 per hour. I trust you to place yourself honestly. The core question: After your necessities are covered, could you pay weekly for supervision without it leaving you with nothing?
If yes, comfortably — the higher end keeps this sustainable and helps hold space for those who can't.
If it would be a real strain — the lower end is yours, especially if you're also carrying debt, supporting others, or facing barriers tied to being BIPOC, disabled, trans, queer, or first in your family in this work.
Pay what reflects your real life. We'll never make it awkward.

Yes, with one important note. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), not an LMFT, so while I can provide up to 100 hours of supervision, Virginia requires LMFT residents to complete at least 100 of their 200 hours with a licensed LMFT. That means you'll need an LMFT supervisor as well, either alongside our work or for that required portion. I'm always glad to talk it through and help you map out a plan that keeps you on track.

To begin supervision, you'll need to have applied and been approved as a Resident in Counseling or Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy by the Virginia Board of Counseling, so the hours we do together count toward your licensure from day one.
A complimentary 20-minute consultation is offered before scheduling your couples therapy intensive.
